This 1-hour online course provides a basic understanding of the three primary technologies used in occupancy sensors. Occupancy sensors are generally used as an energy-saving device for lighting and HVAC systems. These technologies include passive infrared, ultrasonic, and acoustic, along with sensors which use two or more technologies.
This course is intended for electrical engineers, designers and electricians who need to understand the basics of occupancy sensors for proper design and installation. The student will learn how to choose the proper type of occupancy sensor for a space and what various technologies are currently in use commercially. There will be a multiple-choice quiz at the end of this course. At the conclusion of this course, the student will: - Have an understanding of the technologies behind passive infrared, ultrasonic and acoustic occupancy sensors
- Have a basic understanding in general use and placement of occupancy sensors to control lighting and HVAC.
